“During the ten-day course, I not only expanded my theoretical knowledge but also my practical skills. Among other things, I learned techniques such as negative staining, multiple immunolabeling, high-pressure freezing of material, and working with a diamond knife. I gained the ability to prepare ultrathin sections using an ultramicrotome and a cryo-ultramicrotome, which can then be observed under a transmission electron microscope. Working on my own research material, which I brought to Norway, was particularly important to me. I managed to obtain ultrathin sections using the Tokuyasu method and perform immunogold labeling on them. The Tokuyasu method allows for good preservation of protein epitopes, making immunolabeling more successful. Undoubtedly, participating in the course taught me a lot, and the wonderful instructors helped me select the appropriate research methods for my project and cleared up many doubts, which positively motivates me for further experiments planned in my PhD.”
