The Harsval project includes also strengthening the mobility of scientists between Polish and Norwegian entities. The outcome will be the integration of the Polish and Norwegian scientific communities, increased cohesion through increased competence and skills, and the creation of new international scientific initiatives based on Polish-Norwegian consortia to solve complex research challenges.
More information about the mobility programme you can found in WP2.

We received a report about the internship to Norwegian Polar Institute (NPI), Tromsø from Dr. Agnieszka Beszczyńska-Möller (Institute of Oceanology of Polish Academy of Sciences).

We invite you to enjoy:

“During a internship to the Norwegian Polar Institute in Tromsø, Dr. Agnieszka Beszczynska-Möller (IOPAN) led in collaboration with Dr. Arild Sundfjord (Norwegian Polar Institute) and Dr. Angelika Renner (Institute of Marine Research), the processing and analysis of oceanographic data collected between 2012 and 2024 by autonomously recording gauges on anchored risers (moorings) in the north region of Svalbard. Due to the inflow of warm and salty waters of Atlantic origin and their adaptation by contact with the atmosphere and sea ice, this region is crucial for tracking climate change in the Arctic Ocean. Ongoing measurements over more than a decade (2012-2024) of seawater temperature and salinity, ocean currents, and sea ice concentration and drift, collected by the autonomous sensors of the NPI, IMR and IOPAN moorings exhibited within the A-TWAIN Ocean Observatory, will allow environmental changes in the European sector of the Arctic Ocean to be described in relation to Arctic warming and shrinking sea ice cover due to ongoing climate change”
