The Harsval project includes also strengthening the mobility of scientists between Polish and Norwegian entities. The outcome will be the integration of the Polish and Norwegian scientific communities, increased cohesion through increased competence and skills, and the creation of new international scientific initiatives based on Polish-Norwegian consortia to solve complex research challenges.
More information about the mobility programme you can found in WP2.

We received a report about the internship to UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø from Dr. Kamil Długosz (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań).

We invite you to enjoy:

Between February 8-22, 2025, I had the incredible opportunity to visit UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø and collaborate with top experts at the Center for Language, Brain and Learning (C-LaBL). Our mission? To better understand how Ukrainian children in Poland and the Czech Republic acquire language after moving abroad.

Together with my amazing colleagues—Dr. Natalia Mitrofanova, Prof. Marit Westergaard, and Dr. Oleksandra Hrebenshchykova—we designed a cutting-edge experimental study that will track how these children process grammar. How will we do it? With some fascinating techniques:

👀 Eye-tracking – following children’s gaze to see how they understand sentences
✨ Pupillometry – measuring pupil size to detect cognitive effort
🗣️ Speech tasks – analyzing how kids produce language in real time

During my stay, I also presented my research—funded by the Polish National Science Centre (Project 2023/49/B/HS2/00173)—on how bilingual minds handle grammatical gender. My talk sparked insightful discussions, and I was thrilled to exchange ideas with experts in the field.

To keep this exciting work going, we also applied for funding from The Research Council of Norway and AMU-IDUB International Research Team. Fingers crossed!

A huge thank you to my hosts and collaborators for making this research visit both productive and inspiring. Stay tuned for updates on our study! Curious about our work? Check out the project details here: https://en.uit.no/research/clabl/project?pid=867706.”
