The Harsval project includes also strengthening the mobility of scientists between Polish and Norwegian entities. The outcome will be the integration of the Polish and Norwegian scientific communities, increased cohesion through increased competence and skills, and the creation of new international scientific initiatives based on Polish-Norwegian consortia to solve complex research challenges.
More information about the mobility programme you can found in WP2.

We received a report about the internship to The Arctic University of Norway, Arctic University Museum, Tromsø (ArcEcoGen group) from Dr. Magdalena Suchora (Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin).

We invite you to enjoy:

“The main goal of my stay at UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø was to enhance my skills in working with sedaDNA in a world-class laboratory with extensive experience in this field. By participating in research of ArcEcoGen group, led by Prof. Inger G. Alsos, and under the attentive supervision of Marie Føreid Merkel, daily laboratory work became not only a valuable learning experience but also an exciting adventure filled with new challenges.

I was truly impressed by the synergy resulting from the combination of the exceptional botanical collection of the Arctic University Museum, meticulously gathered over the years, innovative molecular analysis techniques, and the dedication of ambitious researchers. Together, these elements created a solid foundation for addressing scientific questions that had previously been unsolvable using traditional paleolimnological methods.

Each day brought new learning experience and practice, allowing me to systematically develop my skills and build confidence in laboratory work – expertise I plan to apply in the future. My one-month internship not only elevated my competencies but also gave the opportunity for daily discussions with team members and participation in weekly research meetings. This experience deepened my understanding of both the potential and the challenges, as well as the limitations, associated with using sedaDNA in environmental studies.

Dear ArcEcoGen members I am extremely grateful for everything I have learned from you, for your openness and kindness, and for the joy we shared – whether it was celebrating scientific achievements, new projects, the exceptionally snowy winter weather, or the anticipation of the Christmas season. I eagerly look forward to continuing our collaboration!”
