On 3-4 October 2024 in Forskningsparken in Oslo took place a second part of the planned workshops: “Scientists as Knowledge Brokers and Better Science Management as a Synergy Effect of the Polish-Norwegian Collaboration” organised within WP4 of the HarSval project.
These workshops were specifically addressed to the research community from partner institutions of the HarSval project from Poland and Norway, with a special focus on early career researchers.
The invited experts were:
- Barbara Świątkowska (National Science Centre, Poland)
- Monika Szkarłat (Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin)
- Sara Aparício (PhD candidate at NOVA University)
- Kamil Filipek (Director of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Computational Modeling at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin)
- Will Harcourt (Interdisciplinary Centre for Data/AI, University of Aberdeen)
- The first module covered principles, mechanisms, and tools for research funding, management of international scientific projects, principles of fund allocation, strategic planning, feedback and transparency in research, building interdisciplinary research networks, and international scientific collaboration. This module also provided updates on EU policies, guidance on accessing funding, and tips for aligning research with EU priorities.
- The second module was dedicated to the use of artificial intelligence in polar research. Invited experts presented the latest achievements in this field and demonstrate the versatility of artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in polar research. Additionally, participants gained knowledge on the legal and ethical use of AI in science and were training in prompting ChatGPT.
On Thursday 3rd October participants were invited also to the dinner and private tour in the Fram Museum, the home of Nansen and Amundsen’s polar ship.
