The Harsval project includes also strengthening the mobility of scientists between Polish and Norwegian entities. The outcome will be the integration of the Polish and Norwegian scientific communities, increased cohesion through increased competence and skills, and the creation of new international scientific initiatives based on Polish-Norwegian consortia to solve complex research challenges.
More information about the mobility programme you can found in WP2.
We received a report about the internship at the Svalbard Integrated Arctic Earth System (SIOS) from Dr. Dariusz Ignatiuk (Institute of Earth Sciences, University of Silesia in Katowice).
“One of the main partners of the Harsval project is the SIOS consortium (Svalbard Integrated Arctic Earth Observing System, https://sios-svalbard.org). Dr. Dariusz Ignatiuk, the SIOS Board of Directors vice-chair, visited the SIOS Knowledge Centre (Longyearbyen, Svalbard) for over two months. The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between Polish and Norwegian partners, work on strategic documents (including the SIOS strategy) and cooperate with the committee evaluating the last 10 years of SIOS activity. There were also meetings with the authorities of UNIS and the Governor’s Office regarding the activity of Polish scientists in Svalbard. The mobility also concerned cooperation with SIOS within the new Logistics and Research Centre in Svalbard “BERA” and scientific cooperation with scientists from Norway, Lithuania and Italy.”
